Olive Green - A Seasonless Neutral

Olive green (military/army green) is a great neutral that you can wear year round. It's the new black!  In the fall & winter mix olive with navy & burgundy. I wore my olive jacket pictured below all winter.  Try mixing olive with blue floral patterns and stripes or soft pink in the spring.  In the summer add coral to your olive basics for a bright pop of color.  ♥ Tori

In 5th grade my Grandma Nancy picked Hawaii for her State Report. She fell in love with the state making it her goal to go there someday. In 1971 my Grandma went to Hawaii for the first time.  She bought a one way standby student ticket for $89.  My Grandma lived and worked in Hawaii for 8 months.  She worked at Crazy Shirt's, Izzy's Hot Dog Stand, Moody's Boutique, Mr. Mike's Steakhouse.  

This was my Grandma's orange dress she received in Hawaii working at Moody's Boutique.
⚓The story of  the Orange Hawaiian Dress: One day a Sailor came in and wanted to buy a dress for his girlfriend.  The sailor told my Grandma that his girlfriend was around my Grandmas same size.  Grandma Nancy helped the Sailor pick out the perfect orange dress for his lady.  He paid for the dress and a hat. She carefully wrapped up the package for the Sailor.  The Sailor then handed the package back to my Grandma, gave her a kiss on the cheek and left the store. The mystery Sailor made my Grandma's day! It still makes my Grandma smile today thinking about the sailor that gave her this dress.  ⚓

Sunday Best

I love lazy Sundays. It's so nice to have a day to kick back and relax. We started the day off with homemade waffles & yummy homemade syrup.  Thanks Mom!  We didn't have church today so our family was able to spend extra quality time together at our Barn.  At the barn we played with the baby goats, I rode a pony named Rainbow & Link rode her horse Herlevant bareback!  

I love today's Sunday Best outfit.  The Devlin Pleated Skirt (from Nordstrom) is my favorite Sunday skirt.  I love the rippled texture & the zipper in back.  I paired this skirt with a basic black top. My Dr. Martens Gray Patent boots give it an edgy look.  For a more feminine look, you could we classic black heels.  ❤Tink

Homemade Buttermilk Syrup Recipe: 

In a large sauce pan:

Melt 3/4 cup butter

Add 1 1/2 cups white sugar

3/4 cup buttermilk

Stir while it comes to a gentle boil.  Turn off the heat and add:

2 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking soda

Stir until blended. Warning once you add the soda it will triple in size so make sure you have a large pot.   Serve & enjoy! WARNING: You will be addicted!
